Saatvaks organisatsiooniks on Avatud Ühiskond MTÜ. Noortevahetuse eesmärk on tuua kokku noored huvilised vanuses 18-25, et suurendada sotsiaalset kaasatust ja tõsta teadlikust ümbritsevate kultuuride suhtes läbi tantsulise tegevuse. Osalejate jaoks toimub ettevalmistav kohtumine.
Rahvusvaheline noortevahetus on erinevatest Euroopa riikidest pärit noortegruppide omavaheline koostööprojekt, mis on välja töötatud ja ellu viidud noorte poolt ning kus tegeletakse noorte jaoks oluliste teemadega. Projekt võib kesta 5-21 päeva. Noortevahetus on hea võimalus õppida tundma teisi kultuure ja noori teistest riikidest ning tegeleda just nende teemadega, mis on noorte jaoks olulised. Noortevahetuses saavad osaleda noored vanuses 13–30 eluaastat, oluline pole noore perekonnaseis, haridustase, rahvus ega keeleoskus. Noortevahetuses osalemiseks on tähtsaim noore soov kogeda ja õppida midagi uut. Saatvaks organisatsiooniks on Avatud Ühiskond MTÜ.

General information and description of the project
The Youth Exchange “Express U!” is organized by cultural association “DCTR” in Aveiro, Portugal, during the period of 05.11.2019 – 10.11.2019, including 48 participants and eight members from each country(seven participants + group leader).
Express U! is a project with the main goal of promoting tolerance, social inclusion and diversity between the young people through culture, focusing on dance. The participants come from 5 different countries (plus the ones from Portugal), being: Spain, Italy, Latvia, Macedonia and Estonia. In total, there’ll be 48 participants. This project will take place in Aveiro, a smalll city in Portugal, known as the Venice of Portugal.
DCTR is a non-profit organization based in Aveiro that develops programming, creation and training acitivies in performing arts, focusing on dance. The duality culture- education is in the basis of DCTR’s work, and the Non-Formal Education (NFE) is seen as an importante piece of the individual’s development as a person, profissional and citizen, as importante as Formal and Informal Education. One of the main goals of DCTR is to promote social inclusion in schools and in the community, helping the arts to become more acessible to all.

Aims and goals of the project
Our intention is to work acculturation and interculturality through traditional activities. This will be the motto for a group of young people to come together to promote their roots and to discuss and experience the value of traditions as a unifying element of peoples and cultures as well as their formative value, since this fosters the sharing, cooperation and acceptance of self and others, values that we want to see instilled in the young people who will build the future of Europe, which we want to be tolerant, equal and respectful of our heritage and culture. The young people who will participate in this exchange will have the opportunity to develop their capacity for questioning and critical reflection on the society in which they live and their origins, contributing positively to becoming enlightened, autonomous citizens aware of their role in society and cultural values that surround them.
• Create initiatives and dynamics, based on the methodology of non-formal education (NFE), to promote social inclusion, diversity and tolerance in young people;
• Promote interculturality, dialogue and European values;
• Foster the importance of cultural and artistic expression in the personal, social and professional development of young people;
• Promote equal access to inclusive and participatory opportunities;
• Fostering skills development in young people through participatory methodologies and reinforcing synergies between the various existing methodologies;
• Raise awareness of the appreciation (by organizations, participating youth workers and society at large) of culture, especially dance, as a tool of excellence for promoting social inclusion, tolerance and diversity in young people;
• Promote the development and sharing of competencies, good practices and tools among participating organizations to implement transnational projects and
initiatives aimed at the social inclusion of young people through culture and participatory methodologies;
Participants profile
35 youngsters who are between 16-25 years old belonging to partner organizations, involved, interested and motivated to participate in the project. Participants are people who fit the criteria mentioned above, such as are N.E.E.T or otherwise unoccupied. In the selection phase, people presenting the unemployed profile, such as are N.E.E.T or otherwise unoccupied, will have the highest priority. In addition, in the respect of equal opportunities, gender balance will be guaranteed. Having an interest in the project’s topic is mandatory – it’s not a holiday!
- All participants have to be over 16 years old as otherwise, they cannot participate in the project. Exceptions will be made for those who are with fewer opportunities.
- All participants should speak and understand English.
- Participants should be curious of discovering other cultures.
- Participants should be interested in making follow up international projects.
The Venue: Aveiro, Portugal
Aveiro is a city and a municipality in Portugal. In 2011, the population was 78,450, in an area of 197.58 square kilometres. It is the second most populous city in the Centro Region of Portugal (after Coimbra). Along with the neighbouring city of Ílhavo, Aveiro is part of an urban agglomeration that includes 120,000 inhabitants, making it one of the most important populated regions by density in the Centro Region, and primary centre of the Intermunicipal Community of Aveiro and Baixo Vouga. Administratively, the president of the municipal government is José Ribau Esteves, elected by coalition between the Social Democratic Party and the Democratic Social Centre, who governs the ten civil parishes.
Aveiro is famous for it’s Ria (It’s like a river but since it’s smaller than a normal river, it’s called Ria) and for the moliceiros (a typical boat from the city that you’ll see immediatly once you get there). The beaches are also really famous in Aveiro, and its salt culture (we eat a lot of codfish here in Portugal and Aveiro it’s the codfish portuguese city!). Also really well-know are the ovos moles, a tradicional sweet that you’ll probaly love! Aveiro is also one of the most mild cities in Portugal: it doesn’t get really hot in Summer but it’s also not that cold in Winter. Benefits for being near the sea!
The participants will be staying in Seminário de Santa Joana in camaratas. It may be possible that they have to share the space with people from other countries, but we’ll always try to put all the participants from the same country together, only separated by genre. This place is about 10 minutes from the center of Aveiro so you have everything you need near. Aveiro is also a small city so there’s not the problem of the transports. We’ll have one person from our team staying with the participants in the accomodation to help you with anything you need. We will garantee you Wi-Fi. Please bring towels.
Responsibilities
Each participant should have valid health insurance (for example European Health Card) and travel insurance during the whole participation in the project. Also, participants must have during the youth exchange the travel documents: identity card/passport.
Each national group will have the occasion to present their country, culture, customs and traditions to all participants. You can bring food, drinks, songs and other traditional things specific to your country. Participants must prepare a presentation of the sending organization which will be presented during the workshop Networking. So bring with you material about your organization (brochures, flyers, etc.). Avatud Ühiskond MTÜ will assist you with that. For the project, each national group should prepare brief research about the project topic. Avatud Ühiskond will be able to help with that as well – we are going to have a preparatory meeting in Estonia with the whole group and the group leader has the possibility to attend the advanced preparatory meeting.
Relevant information:
The Erasmus + Programme will cover 100% of the accommodation, food and activities and will reimburse 100% of the travel costs for the participants – up to 540 euros. Whereas possible, the participation fee shall be paid by the municipality, school or employer.
Participants will receive a “Youthpass” certificate which describes and validates the non-formal and informal learning experience gained during the project. Youthpass is a European recognition tool for non-formal and informal learning in youth work, developed by SALTO, initially for the Youth in Action programme. Youthpass is for projects funded by Erasmus+ youth programmes and helps the participants of those projects to record their learning and skills development, which could then be used to support job applications or applications for further courses for example. The applicants will be notified 10.04.2019 the latest.
